Post-Winter Car Cleaning Tips to Start Spring Right
If you use your vehicle frequently throughout the winter, then you have most likely noticed the effect that melting snow and salt have had on your car’s interior. Filthy floor mats are a useful indicator that it is time to perform an in-depth cleaning of your car’s interior. Whether you want to get ready for date night, give your significant other a stunningly spotless car as a gift, or just make sure your daily commute is a bit cleaner, follow these car cleaning tips to get your vehicle looking pristine.
Deep Cleaning the Car’s Interior
Get the trash bags, gloves, and vacuum ready, as you will be going deep into those nooks and crannies under the car seats and in the center console. We recommend putting on some tunes or a podcast, throwing on an outfit you don’t mind getting a bit dirty, and choosing a nice warm day to have the doors wide open. The first place you should start is using glass cleaner to wipe any smudges or streaks off of the windows of your vehicle.
It is always a good idea to start high and finish low when cleaning any surface, but that is especially true for your car. Remove anything from the console and glove compartment to make sure you can thoroughly wipe down those surfaces with your favorite cleaning products. When the vacuum is brought in, try and get the seats and cup holders are taken care of before you attack the carpet, as it is likely some debris could fly and be left behind on the floor.
For the dashboard, steering wheel, and any other surfaces that may be leather, use a trusted leather cleaner and a microfiber cloth to give it a complete wipe down. Especially if the interior of your car is dark leather, it can be difficult to identify the dirtier spots that you may often be touching. A steam cleaner can be a fantastic tool if you have one at your disposal, as this can be used on the seats and carpeting to remove built-up stains.
