Subies Of the Corn: Ambassador Club of the MorningStar Mission - LORI T

Starting in 2021, J Mykel reached out to us at one of our most needed times, our Thanksgiving Banquet. They not only did the utmost amazing Subaru Parade display to bring in the visualization of outreach but stood outside in inclement weather to hand out the most incredible backpacks full of the most needed items to our guests. "Share a Love Promise" that Subaru stands for is definitely an undeniable factor in today's world, let alone our very own community. We are so blessed to have these incredible men and women in our lives to take notice of our Mission on a mission and be a key factor in the "Drive to Success" in all that Hawk Subaru also has provided them! We are truly humbled for all that the Subies of the Corn and Hawk Subaru itself has donated to our guests, our goals, programs, OUR COMMUNITY! Together, we can! Thank you!

Subies of the Corn Co-Founder and Subaru Ambassador Christine Hill stated “It’s amazing how the generosity of Hawk Subaru, Subaru of America, Subaru Ambassadors, and Subies of the Corn members can make such an impact in the lives of those in need in our area. Most of us take a warm pair of socks, basic toiletry items, and a warm shower for granted. The donated items will help bring comfort and warmth to so many in need and we are honored to play a small part in their lives. Subaru Loves to Help and events like this demonstrate how Subaru is more than just a car brand.” As part of the Subaru Loves to Help Initiative, Subaru and their retailers provided 500,000 pairs of new socks, 50,000 of which are youth socks, along with 100,000 warm blankets, and Subaru Ambassadors provided 25,000 Care Kits for adults and children experiencing homelessness. Subaru and their retailers are helping to support those in need by providing some of the most requested items by shelters to provide comfort and warmth to those experiencing homelessness. 2022 Fill-a-Forester Event at Hawk Subaru Collects over 1700 toys for Toys for Tots Organization - J. Mykel H

Subaru Ambassadors, along with members of Subies of the Corn (SOTC), hosted the 4th Annual “Fill-a-Forester” event at Hawk Subaru Plainfield on Saturday, December 10, 2022. Over 1,700 toys were collected during the event and filled two (2) Subaru Forester vehicles. The event was held in conjunction with the Subaru Loves to Help initiative, benefiting Toys for Tots. Toys were collected at Hawk Subaru and delivered directly to the Marine Corps by members of Subies of the Corn. The toys will be distributed to families in Will, Grundy, and Kendall Counties in Illinois. As part of the Subaru Loves Pets initiative, Wags 2 Wishes Animal Rescue and The Dainty Meow were on site with dogs and cats, all looking for a fur-ever home. Two dogs and two cats were adopted during the Fill-a-Forester event and applications for five additional cat adoptions were taken. “We are completely overwhelmed by the generosity of the Subaru Community! This is our most successful Fill-a-Forester event, and we are so grateful for the support of Hawk Subaru. Hawk is so much more than just a car dealership! They are ingrained in the community and live the Subaru Love promise. This event is an example of their commitment to show love and respect to their customers and make a positive impact in their community,” stated Subies of the Corn Co-Founder and Subaru Ambassador J. Mykel Hill. On Sunday, December 11, 2022, Subies of the Corn organized a cruise from Hawk Subaru to deliver the collected toys directly to Toys for Tots at the US Marine Corps Reserve Center in Joliet, IL. It took four Subaru Foresters to safely transport the toys collected. The cruise took SOTC members on a scenic cruise through the area and even included a stop to see Santa. Once cleared into the base, SOTC members assisted the Marine Corps with off-loading and sorting the toys for distribution. “Fill-a-Forester is our way to give back to the community. Letting our members see the behind-the-scenes of how the toys are collected and distributed is super important to us. The Marines were very grateful for our donation, and it was great to lend a helping hand,” stated Subies of the Corn Admin and Subaru Ambassador, Robert Barton. An Adoption Story - Elyse L

Through our partnership with Hawk Subaru, we hosted an adoption event during the month of October. We brought three dogs to the trunk or treat at Hawk Subaru, and by the end of the event, Wags 2 Wishes and Hawk Subaru helped Winifred find her perfect, loving home. Thanks to Jennifer and everyone from Hawk Subaru, we were able to adopt out even more dogs to some of the other attendants at the event. Winifred is an adorable little beagle mix puppy that came to Wags 2 Wishes after being at a high volume animal control in Kentucky. Her new family fell in love when they met at Hawk Subaru and were able to adopt and take her home that same day. She loved all of her goodies that Hawk Subaru sent home with her- especially her “Chew-baru” toy. We at Wags 2 Wishes so grateful for all of the hardworking people at Hawk Subaru and the Subies of the Corn community that helped make the event a success.

Subaru Adoption Event - Dainty Meow - Daniel R

We had never been to/administered an adoption event at Subaru before and who knew it would be the first of many to come. The staff was so incredibly welcoming and accommodating. They treated us with true collaborative respect and we couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity. We were offered ample space to fully facilitate all the adoption event offered. To be welcomed back numerous times has been so heartwarming and truly showcases the commitment Hawk Subaru has to supporting the four legged friends that need our help the most. The rescue/foster/adoption space has always faced uphill challenges when attempting to secure sufficient opportunities to find forever homes for at-risk domestic animals. Subaru provided such a warm, inviting space for us and we couldn’t be more excited how our inaugural adoption event went so smoothly. We look forward to collaborating again and showing the community the good we all can do with just a bit of effort and open hearts - all with Hawk Subaru’s support! :)

Subies of the Corn members filled the lot with decorated Subaru vehicles and handed out candy and treats to the ghouls and goblins trick or treating. Wags 2 Wishes Animal Rescue and The Dainty Meow brought dogs and cats, all looking for a fur-ever home. The highlight of the event was seeing Winifred find her fur-ever home. Winifred is an 11-week-old hound mix puppy and will receive lots of love at her new home. Additionally, Subies of the Corn presented Wags to Wishes with a donation of $330, which was raised during the event in honor of Subaru Loves Pets. “I can’t thank Hawk Subaru enough for their support of this event”, stated Subies of the Corn co-founder Christine Hill. “Hawk Subaru is more than just a car dealership! Hawk Subaru helps Subies of the Corn raise $3,000 to help provide meals and care for area homeless. - J Mykel H

Hawk Subaru was the Title Sponsor for the 2022 Subies of the Corn Scavenger Hunt, which was held on May 21, 2022. The event raised $3,000 for MorningStar Mission, which provides food for the hungry, clothes for the needy, and shelter for the homeless. They provide services for those in the Joliet and Will County area in Illinois. Hawk Subaru served as the host location for the start of the event, and participants “hunted” the dealership for the hidden riddle, which provided the next location in the Scavenger Hunt. Once determined, participants were led on a cruise to the next stop to begin the process of hunting for the next riddle. “Hawk Subaru has been instrumental in assisting Subies of the Corn with the Scavenger Hunt over the years, and this year was no exception”, stated J. Mykel Hill, Subaru Ambassador and Co-Founder of Subies of the Corn. “Through our partnership together, we raised $3,000 which will help provide meals and care for 1,200 people in our area. Our event wouldn’t have been so successful without their support, and we are truly grateful for how much Hawk Subaru Loves to Help!” A check for $3,000 was presented to MorningStar Mission on June 25, 2022, coinciding with the Subaru Ambassador Day of Caring. Kevin Watson, Assistant Director at MorningStar Mission, stated “Thank you, Subies of the Corn, for your generous donation to help those in need at MorningStar Mission here in Joliet, Illinois. It's really cool to see people who have a passion for their Subarus use that passion to benefit those in need. Being a "Car Guy" myself, I am inspired and challenged to use my love of cars to benefit the less fortunate and accomplish a greater good.” In addition to their Title Sponsorship of the event, Hawk Subaru also provided Subaru-themed raffle and silent auction items to help raise additional dollars for the charity. Their donation of a Giant Four in a Row game drew a ton of attention from the participants and generated some pretty stiff competition competing for the item in the silent auction. Thank you Hawk Subaru, for your support of the 2022 Subies of the Corn Scavenger Hunt and we look forward to Sharing the Love of Helping Others in future events!
